Celebrate Women’s History Month with your children through books and film

Despite the significant talk of equality, it is not difficult to see that history has been unkind to half of humanity—women. For women of color, it’s been especially difficult. And yet, throughout time, women have been standing up and making a way forward for all those who come after them. From the suffrage movement to civil rights, it takes only a cursory review of history to witness the impact of the feminine heroes who have come before us.

As you go about celebrating Women’s History Month among your family, consider these books, films, and quotes as you do so. As Maya Angelou said, "Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it possibly, without claiming it, she stands up for all women.”
