Currently, the only major features that require an account for access are our catalog and book lists. As we’ve written before, our aim in requiring you to sign up for these living book recommendations isn’t to make things more complicated for you. Instead, our desire is to simply grow this community of amazing allies for diversity and stay connected.
Once you’ve created your account and become a Stories of Color member, you can access all our book recommendations, no catches, no tricks, and no pushy upsells.
Create your account now. And thanks for understanding.

First, try this link. If you created an account with the email address you enter there, you should immediately be sent an email with the subject line “Change your password” from Stories of Color. Before you tell us you didn’t get the email, though, here are some quick troubleshooting tips.
Give it a minute or two to hit your inbox. Some email clients are slower than others to send and receive mail.
If you use Gmail, the password reset email may end up in your Updates tab. If you don’t see it there, try searching for “Stories of Color” instead, possibly even checking your Spam folder.
If you use an email client other than Gmail, it may have just gone directly to your Spam folder. Check it out.
If you don’t find the email in one of the above spots, then chances are you probably signed up with a different email address than you think, even if it was just an accidental misspelling (it happens to the best of us!). If that’s the case, we suggest you simply create a new account.
Sorry for the inconvenience. Technology is fun like that, sometimes.

We’re sorry, but there are limitations to the software for mobile devices. Watch a tutorial to learn all about our search functionality.

If you have created an account but can’t access our book lists, it may be that you have an account with us, but not a membership.
That’s confusing, we know, so let’s troubleshoot the issue with you.
First, visit storiesofcolor.com/account. On a desktop or laptop, a sidebar should slide out from the right of the screen; on a mobile device, it will be full screen. If it does not show “Digital Products” and say “1 Active Digital Product” in your account, it means you simply need to register for membership. To do that, visit our homepage and sign up free, even if you use the same email and password that you created before.
If you do see “Digital Products” and list “1 Active Digital Product” in your account, then try clearing your browser’s cache and logging in again. If that doesn’t work, simply contact us and we’ll see how we can help. Thanks for your understanding.

As our catalog of diverse living books continued to grow, so did the titles appearing on our free book lists. So, we decided it would be best if we had a more specific, finite selection of only the 10 best titles across a range of topics. We called those book bundles for a time—though with the launch of our 2nd Edition, now we just call them 10-book lists.
To find them among our living book lists, just look for the “10” icon. While our standard book lists are big and continually growing, 10-book lists are small, always consisting of just 10 recommendations.

Let’s face it—nobody needs another email subscription. We get it, and we’re inundated by too many emails ourselves. That’s why we like to keep our email newsletters infrequent and to-the-point.
If you subscribe to our monthly emails, you’ll receive…
Books of the month. We keep the main thing the main thing. Books picked by our allies are the primary focus of each month’s newsletter.
A Charlotte Mason quote. The maven was full of wisdom, and we like putting her words on replay. Listen up.
A homeschooling resource. No need to scrounge around, we’ve got you covered with a hot new tool each and every month.
Of course, we may change things up a bit down the road as we listen to our community’s wants and needs. But for now, that’s what you can expect with each edition of our monthly newsletter. If you’re looking to catch-up on the past books of the month, browse our past editions.
So, what are you waiting for? It’s time you actually make your inbox happy for a change and subscribe now.
P.S. Be sure to confirm your email after subscribing so you don’t miss it!

Ah, inboxes—the bane of modern technology. Don’t worry, we’ll overcome the issue, because we know you really want to get our awesome monthly newsletter and all it contains.
Here are some steps to troubleshoot your issue and make sure you receive our handpicked book recommendations each and every month.
After you’ve subscribed to our newsletter (you can do so here if you haven’t yet), we’ll send you an email to confirm your subscription. It’s annoying, yes, but we do this to comply with anti-spam regulations.
If you don’t see the email right away, try searching “Confirm your subscription to Stories of Color” in quotations and it should come up. If you use Gmail, the confirmation email you receive will probably end up in your Promotions tab. Check there. If you do end up finding the confirmation email in your Promotions tab, we recommend dragging and dropping the email into your Primary tab and responding to the message that asks if you want to have all emails from this sender placed there. Because, of course you do.
If the email doesn’t come up with your search, try checking your Spam folder instead, as those emails don’t usually show in your usual inbox searches. If the email was marked as spam, be sure to select “Not spam” so that you see the emails moving forward.
Once you find the confirmation email, all you need to do is click “Confirm subscription.” Once you finish that, you’re on our list and you should be seeing all future emails from us. You can unsubscribe at anytime.
Last but not least, if you end up not being able to fix your issue, feel free to contact us so we can try and figure it out. We’re truly sorry for the inconvenience, but c'est la technologie.

Though it’s taken a decent amount of time and elbow grease to craft this product and its growing set of features, you should know that Stories of Color is built using software absolutely anybody could leverage. We’re not engineers by any means—we just knows how to cobble together some decent tools and resources.
If you want to get geeky with us and read about all the tools we use to operate, feel free to do so.
